Dishrag. Dishcloth. Face cloth. I've seen folks get all fired up in forums when someone refers to their knit or crochet creation as a dishrag, as that's somehow offensive to them! When you're working on yours, what do you call them? Also, is there a difference between a dishrag and a dishcloth? How bout a facecloth? Are they all really the same thing?

I thought my grandma taught me to knit, but my mom said she never knew how, she crocheted. I did get a kntting kit for Christmas one year when I was 10. I do both, crochet and knit but perfer knitting (learned first) Any whos, was recently at my mom's where I was shocked to see her using a dishcloth on dishes that someone had made for her. She said her friend felt honored that she was using her "cloth" just like when you make hats, sweaters etc and they are worn!!

In the "good old olden days" everything was made by hand, had a purpose and was used! I cherish all handmade items and WHO CARES what their label/name is!

I agree - if someone has taken the time to make something for me...by gosh...I am going to use it and use it with pride...

My Grandma taught me to crochet many, many years ago also. I don't do much crocheting any more - I taught myself to knit about 3 years ago and haven't looked back :)
