MOOOOOOOOOOOOORE TIME NEEDED

Still have not yet had time to work on blog buttons and pictures. During the week, I work from 8:00AM (actually get to work at 7:30) until 5:00PM. Get home, make dinner, do a little vegging by doing a newspaper crossword puzzle and playing with doggie who needs exercise desperately, then eat, clean up, knit for an hour or so, depending on how I feel, spend some time on computer and then retire for the night to start allover again. Weekends: Saturdays are errands and shopping etc. Sundays during winter is football watching/listening while doing laundry/cleaning.
I love the winter and especially snow but hate going to work in dark and coming home in dark. If it has to be cold then should have SNOW. Snow is pretty, rain is dreary! Snow lightens up winter!!!

I no longer have kids at home so you would think I had more time, NOT!!! Guess I functioned on NO sleep when raising the kids. I cannot do that anymore. Glad I had my kids when I was young!!

Will take photos of projects working on and try to post tonight or send to work (where I am now) and post early in the AM.

It is warming up today (high 30's) but waiting for our annual Feb/March blizzard!! WOOHOO!

Learning

My secret swap pal gave me instructions for buttons and linking photos. I will attempt to do that tomorrow. I am sooo tired, ran many errands today plus had an eye doctor appt. early this morning and I have a horrible cold. Everyone at work is sick soooo I naturally caught it!!! I think they opened the windows in our office this weekend to "kill the bug." It is really freezing here (17 without wind chill factor) so it should kill the germs.

I have finished my dishcloth for my own swap partner and now need to get more info from her to add to the package.

Knitting projects on the needles are another hat, a co-worker that received a hat for the holidays requested another in black for when she goes out with boyfriend. Also working on hooded sweater for 8 year old granddaughter and just got yarn for a skirt to match. On the needles are more dishcloths (becoming an obsession) for gifts for sister-in-laws birthdays, a scarf and another alligator scarf. I carry at least one project and yarn and needles in car so if stuck waiting (like at eye doctor's this morning) can accomplish something I like and not stress that I have to wait.

Well putting this sick body to bed early!! No football this weekend, BIG BUMMER!!!

"Defeat the Winter Doldrums" Dishcloth Swap Weekly Topic # 2

Weekly Topic # 2
There are many people who ADORE receiving hand-knit or crochet items; but there are just as many who have no appreciation whatever of how much love, work, and time goes into a hand-made item. Share a story of a hand-made gift you gave to someone and how it worked out - good, bad, or ugly!

I recently made over 30 hats for holiday gifts and was feverishly trying to finish so carried knitting where ever I went. Then while waiting to get my nails done, my manicurist and the client she was working on commented on how great it was that I knit and wish they could. They then commented on how as children and teenagers they hated the homemade gifts but NOW they really would like some and wish they had kept some of the knitted items they had received. So I promptly made each of them hats!! It is a JOY to give things I make to people who really appreciate them. It is a JOY just to be able to make someone happy.

Knitting Projects

These are just a few of the projects I completed for the holidays.

Dishrag. Dishcloth. Face cloth. I've seen folks get all fired up in forums when someone refers to their knit or crochet creation as a dishrag, as that's somehow offensive to them! When you're working on yours, what do you call them? Also, is there a difference between a dishrag and a dishcloth? How bout a facecloth? Are they all really the same thing?

I thought my grandma taught me to knit, but my mom said she never knew how, she crocheted. I did get a kntting kit for Christmas one year when I was 10. I do both, crochet and knit but perfer knitting (learned first) Any whos, was recently at my mom's where I was shocked to see her using a dishcloth on dishes that someone had made for her. She said her friend felt honored that she was using her "cloth" just like when you make hats, sweaters etc and they are worn!!

In the "good old olden days" everything was made by hand, had a purpose and was used! I cherish all handmade items and WHO CARES what their label/name is!

Man, I finally finished this ambitious project!!!
